How Unicorn stacks up
The older panels were built for one box and grew sideways from there: multi-server bolted on afterwards, restore that stops at the whole database, isolation you buy separately. Here is where Unicorn Panel works differently, line by line, and where it does not.
Checked in September 2026 against cPanel v138, Plesk 18.0.81, DirectAdmin 1.711 and Virtualmin 8.2.0, using vendor documentation and change logs. Several cells depend on the edition you buy, and are labeled where they do. These products move quickly, so check the current state of any of them before you decide.

The short version
Four reasons buyers switch
vs cPanel
Isolation per site without buying CloudLinux on top, a fleet that covers more than mail, and arm64 builds. cPanel does not support ARM at all, and some of its analytics cannot be switched off.
vs Plesk
Restore granularity. Plesk restores a single file, but not a single database table or a single mail folder, and its fleet story stops at remote database servers.
vs DirectAdmin
PostgreSQL, backups that can go somewhere other than FTP, passkey sign-in, and one panel across the fleet.
vs Virtualmin / Webmin
Malware scanning for web files, which Virtualmin has none of, passkeys, and per-site isolation without the Pro tier.

Multi-server, a container per site, a first-party stack, running, not just on a slide.
